MooPig's Fact-Checker Department :: "The 2012 Election"

'We're Not Going to Let Our Campaign Be Dictated by Fact-Checkers' - James Bennet - The Atlantic: "Watch this exchange, from a panel here this morning. On one side is my colleague Ron Fournier, the editor-in-chief of National Journal, together with John Dickerson of CBS and Slate; on the other, Ron Kaufman of the Romney campaign. Both journalists call the ad false; Kaufman rejects their view -- both of the details of the ad, and of its political thrust, that it is, as Fournier argues, "playing the race card." The result is a stalemate -- or, actually, a kind of mind-blowing media-political meta-vortex that might be better fodder for students of epistemology or semiotics, and certainly of American Studies, than for journalists, though they should probably watch it, too.

The relevant section runs from about 26:30 to about 35:30 in the video here, with a slight digression in the middle to a different issue, energy. (The Fora player will only embed a short clip from the video, not including the passage cited here.)"

from Kim Edmonds Malone
The following questions were set in last year's GED examination
These are genuine answers (from 16 year olds)............and they WILL breed.

A. Keep it in the cow (Simple, but brilliant)

Q. How are the main 20 parts of the body categorised (e.g. The abdomen)
A. The body is consisted into 3 parts - the brainium, the borax and the abdominal cavity. The brainium contains the brain, the borax contains the heart and lungs and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels: A, E, I,O,U.. (wtf!)

Q. What is the fibula?
A. A small lie

Q. What does 'varicose' mean?
A. Nearby

Q. What is the most common form of birth control
A. Most people prevent contraception by wearing a condominium (That would work)

Q. Give the meaning of the term 'Caesarean section'
A. The caesarean section is a district in Rome

Q. What is a seizure?
A. A Roman Emperor. (Julius Seizure, I came, I saw, I had a fit)

Q. What is a terminal illness
A. When you are sick at the airport. (Irrefutable)

Q. Give an example of a fungus. What is a characteristic feature?
A. Mushrooms. They always grow in damp places and they look like umbrellas

Q. Use the word 'judicious' in a sentence to show you understand its meaning
A. Hands that judicious can be soft as your face. (OMG)

Q. What does the word 'benign' mean?
A. Benign is what you will be after you be eight (brilliant)

MooPig Report from the Middle -- PRIVATIZATION : the Game, Part One, UPDATE

5 Ways Privatization Is Ruining America | Alternet: "August 13, 2012  |

" ...  A grand delusion has been planted in the minds of Americans, that privately run systems are more efficient and less costly than those in the public sector. Most of the  evidence points the other way. Private initiatives generally produce mediocre or substandard results while experiencing the usual travails of unregulated capitalism -- higher prices, limited services, and lower wages for all but a few 'entrepreneurs.'

With perverse irony, the corruption and incompetence of private industry has actually furthered the cause of privatization, as the collapse of the financial markets has deprived state and local governments of necessary public funding, leading to an even greater call for private development." (Paul Buchheit. 13 Aug 2012. LINK)..."

MooPig's Famous Last Words Department :: "Ten Myths about Medicare"

Top six myths about Medicare | Reuters: "MYTH ONE: MEDICARE COSTS ARE OUT OF CONTROL

Facts: Medicare spending will soar in the years ahead as the number of seniors grows, but its per-capita growth is slower than private health insurance - and it is getting better. "We may be reaching the point now where Medicare healthcare expenses are growing no more quickly than growth of the economy overall," said John Rother, chief executive officer of the National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC). "That's important, but it might as well be a state secret as far as the public and Congress goes."

The average annual per-capita spending growth rate through 2019 is projected at 3.1 percent for Medicare, compared with 4.9 percent for private insurance plans, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The 3.1 percent projection even includes higher payments to doctors as part of a long-term solution to the long-running problem of the sustainable growth rate (SGR) used under current law to control Medicare spending on physician services."

Probably the most "insidious" method of mind control is the practice of conscripting youth into the fascist and hive mindsets... commonly used by regimes that are less free than the West. But as a nation who spouts grandiose about our freedoms, we are closing in fast with our own fascism similar of others.

Yet, in America we have a "dumbing down" in our educational institutions that has no rivals. We have limited our youth to a life behind the veil of half-truths, or no truth at all. Click on this LINK to see a pdf of The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America.

Who Would Win in a Cage Match? :: No Holds Barred

You've got to love Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello. Some dudes just talk about the issues — he acts. In recent years, he’s picketed for farm workers, thrown his support behind various boycotts, and has even been arrested with underpaid hotel workers. You have to respect that. He doesn’t talk, he ... gets out there and actually participates in nonviolent resistance.

“Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades,” Morello declares in an op-ed piece for Rolling Stone.

The Romney’s employed a German trainer, Mr. Ebeling who continues to work for the Romney dressage business which is also used as a tax deduction. The case was settled out of court. NY Times

In an interview with NBC set to air Thursday, Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, said her husband's campaign will not release any additional tax returns to the public ahead of the election.

"We have been very transparent to what's legally required of us," Romney told reporter Natalie Morales, according to excerpts from NBC News. "There's going to be no more tax releases given."

But as for whether the campaign is trying to withhold embarrassing information, Ann Romney told NBC "there's nothing we're hiding."

This is the loaded source of how this phenom has pervaded our lives in the USA. Do you feel smarter today than you did in 1963? Be honest.

There is no meter to measure intelligence in humans, because the real reason for intelligence is to survive, and that is purely subjective. One is required to survive cosmic stimuli, habitat anomalies on Earth, and suffer many destructive to life occurrences.

Now the education of humans should evoke out of each individual his or her special survival talent. Yes? We would be best served by people who knew early in their lives what their purpose is... is that too much to ask?

Have you been looking for a compendium of modern tech at work? Well, thanks to the Pribek Site I am reminded of this cool site, Kurzweil Accelerating Intelligence, for your viewing pleasure.

About Ray Kurzweil, " ... His uncle, an engineer at Bell Labs, taught young Ray the basics of computer science.[1] In his youth, he was an avid reader of science fiction literature. In 1963, at age fifteen, he wrote his first computer program.[2] Later in high school he created a pattern-recognition software program that analyzed the works of classical composers, and then synthesized its own songs in similar styles. Together with UCSD's Anders Dale and Terry Jernigan and researchers from nine other universities, Brown used structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to scan the brains of 885 people ranging in age from 3 to 20. Those brain scans were used to identify 231 biomarkers of brain anatomy that, when combined, could assess an individual's age with more than 92 percent accuracy. That's beyond what's been possible with any other biological measure, the researchers say. (Lyons, Lisa. 16 Aug 2012. LINK)

Precinct 1 Constable Brian Bachmann was headed early Monday afternoon to make certain the 35-year-old left the one-story, two-bedroom house that he had been renting at the corner of Fidelity and Highland streets. Exactly what happened next — whether the two exchanged words or even if Bachmann had the chance to speak — may never be known. Caffall, known as Tres, shot Bachmann at close range in the quiet neighborhood several blocks from Kyle Field and the Texas A&M campus.

“That’s where it was at,” he said of Monday’s incident. “In law enforcement, you never know who might be on the other side of the door or what’s going on in their mind or what’s going on in their life.

Brian Bachmann was one hell of a guy. It’s just a hell of a mess.”

MooPig's Posturing Honkey's Feature :: "Gangs in the HOUSE"

Both Mr. Ryan and Mr. Romney, then, are fake deficit hawks (Krugman, Paul.)

If you think the middle class has it too good, too much security, taxes aren't high enough, not enough fear of unemployment, too much help for education, and so on, while the wealthy haven't been coddled enough in recent years, not enough tax cuts, too little upward redistribution of income, not enough bank bailouts, etc., etc., then the Republican proposals should make you happy. (Krugman, Paul) ... "
Economist's View: Ryan's Budget: The Most Fraudulent Proposal in American History: "So the pundits who praised this proposal when it was released were punked. The G.O.P. budget plan isn’t a good-faith effort to put America’s fiscal house in order; it’s voodoo economics, with an extra dose of fantasy, and a large helping of mean-spiritedness. ...

'via Blog this'
" ... As regular readers of this column [Paul Krugman, Commentary, NY Times] know, Mr. Ryan has somehow acquired a reputation as a stern fiscal hawk despite offering budget proposals that, far from being focused on deficit reduction, are mainly about cutting taxes for the rich while slashing aid to the poor and unlucky. In fact, once you strip out Mr. Ryan’s “magic asterisks” — claims that he will somehow increase revenues and cut spending in ways that he refuses to specify — what you’re left with are plans that would increase, not reduce, federal debt. (Krugman, Paul. Aug 11, 2012. LINK) ... "

" ... They’re [Republicans] are willing to snatch food from the mouths of babes (literally, via cuts in crucial nutritional aid programs), but that’s a positive from their point of view — the social safety net, says Mr. Ryan, should not become “a hammock that lulls able-bodied people to lives of dependency and complacency.” Maintaining low taxes on profits and capital gains, and indeed cutting those taxes further, are, however, sacrosanct. ...
--And--
Pink Slime Economics: ...Republicans in the House of Representatives passed what was surely the most fraudulent budget in American history. (Krugman, P..)... "
" ... Democrats hope those same voters will be alarmed by, say, Ryan’s call to turn " ... Medicare into a voucher program," or, by the massive cuts that would be required to make his numbers add up. Either way, the GOP’s vice-presidential nominee figures to play a central role in the 2012 race’s outcome. ... "(Kornacki, Steve. Aug 11, 2012. LINK)

Michigan Republicans Indicted for Election Fraud | Veracity Stew

Michigan Republicans Indicted for Election Fraud | Veracity Stew: "Perhaps you remember Thaddeus “Thad” McCotter. He is the former US Representative from Michigan’s 11th congressional district. A top ally of Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), the five-term Republican incumbent resigned his seat precipitously in July. Just last year, McCotter was a candidate for the Republican nomination for president in the 2012 election. He later scrapped his presidential bid and decided to run again for his seat in Congress. The discovery of massive fraud disqualified him from running for his seat when it was discovered that 85% of his ballot petition signatures were invalid."

'via Blog this'

This was not simply Keystone Kops run amok. Serious criminal acts were committed.
Here is full extent of those criminal acts:
  • Of the 1800 signatures turned in on ballot petitions, only 244 were determined to be valid. 1000 were needed to secure a ballot slot.
  • Many of the signatures were determined to be outright forgeries. Others were pasted in from old ballots and the forms were photocopied.
  • Four McCotter staffers were indicted. One was charged with a misdemeanor for signing petition form that she did not circulate. The others were charged with felony election fraud violations, including forgery and conspiracy on ballot petitions.
  • This is a Thad state of affairs indeed. Maybe someone ought to call Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida and let them know who the real perpetrators of election fraud are.

NASA Doesn't Talk :: Mars saves Face

Snagged by Pat Darnell | Aug 10, 2012 | Bryan TX
[Picture LINK]

While NASA propaganda diverts attention from "life on Mars" to "geologic information gathering," do we feel less validated about our suspicions?

Many today think we should be studying "artifacts" rather than "dirt," and "archaeology" rather than "geology" on Mars. Why? Three reasons: location, location, location. "The rover will assess whether Mars ever had an environment able to support life forms. (NASA/Bill Ingalls)" HA!

And while NASA ponders "what makes the red planet red?" ... We are left pondering in our coffee cups the downward spiral of life on earth.

Knowing what to look for is the key, no? So, now try to plan your life according to the long shot that NASA will somehow own up the evidence of  "others" out there who are faster, sleeker, and far advanced to our space programs. Yes, for NASA to admit there is a superior group of space travelers in the sky, watching everything we do, would spell the end of the $billions spent on its folly of space stations and probes. And there are multiples of formations showing up in NASA's own photos, not readily released by NASA elites, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, photos depicting civilization machinations in Mars' surface.
" ... A new survey finds that 80 million Americans, or 36 percent of the population, believe UFOs are real. One in 10 respondents say they have personally witnessed an alien spaceship. And if aliens were to invade the country sometime in the next four years, 65 percent of survey respondents said President Obama would be better suited for handling the invasion than Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. (Life's Little Mysteries Staff / June 28, 2012. HERE) ... "
This survey is quoted in lots of documentaries and shows lately. We thought the bit about Obama's street credit was a good side note. " ... More than three in four Americans (77 percent) think there are signs that suggest aliens have visited the Earth, whether or not they've made up their minds about the question. ... " The truth is that public consciousness is changing from "non-belief" in this phenomena to "belief in it for sure." Aliens do exist for the majority of Americans.

Therefore, Plimpton, what's the big deal? The same thing that is the big deal for all the patron workers at NASA -- elitists' mega spending of American tax money.
" ... More surprisingly, the new NatGeo survey found that a whopping 79 percent of people think the government has kept information about UFOs a secret from the public, and more than half (55 percent) believe there are real-life "Men in Black"-style agents who threaten people who spot UFOs. (Life's Little Mysteries Staff / June 28, 2012.)... "
Woe is me ... how to persuade the public to spend billions on dated technology, technology that is pre-historic to the one future day announcement that the aliens are out there, at large, and probably in charge? And they have space travel technology that supplants the entire brigade of NASA toys.

The key to this is that we humans on Earth today cannot do the announcing by ourselves. Unfortunately we will require trumpets and horsemen from the heavens to help us be convinced.

Yes, please help us, the little people!

Location; location; location " ... Nearly one in five think the nation's capital is the most likely landing zone for a UFO. ... "

Rock Layers in Gale Crater
This oblique view of the lower mound in Gale Crater shows layers of rock that preserve a record of environments on Mars. Here, orbiting instruments have detected signatures of both clay minerals and sulfate salts, with more clay minerals apparent in the foreground of this image and fewer in higher layers. This change in mineralogy may reflect a change in the ancient environment in Gale Crater.

Mars scientists have several important hypotheses about how these minerals may reflect changes in the amount of water on the surface of Mars. The Mars Science Laboratory rover, Curiosity, will use its full suite of instruments to study these minerals to provide insights into these ancient Martian environments. These rocks are also a prime target in the search for organic molecules since these past environments may have been habitable -- able to support microbial life. Scientists will study how organic molecules, if present, vary with mineralogical variations in the layers to understand how they formed and what influences their preservation.

The smaller hills in this view may provide clues to the modern water cycle on Mars. They contain sulfate salts that have water in them, and as temperatures warm into summer, some of that water may be released to the atmosphere. As temperatures cool, they may absorb water from the atmosphere. The Mars Science Laboratory team will investigate how water is exchanged between these minerals and the atmosphere, helping us understand Mars' modern climate. The hills are particularly useful for this investigation because different parts of the hills are exposed to different amounts of sunlight and thus to different temperatures. Curiosity will be able to compare the water in these contrasting areas as part of its investigations.

This three-dimensional perspective view was created using visible-light imaging by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the High Resolution Stereo Camera on the European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter. Three-dimensional information was derived by stereo analysis of image pairs. The vertical dimension is not exaggerated. Color information is derived from color imaging of portions of the scene by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera.

The Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft is being prepared for launch on Nov. 25, 2011. In a prime mission lasting one Martian year -- nearly two Earth years -- after landing, researchers will use the rover's tools to study whether the landing region has had environmental conditions favorable for supporting microbial life and for preserving clues about whether life existed.

BBC News - Gale Crater: Geological 'sweet shop' awaits Mars rover

BBC News - Gale Crater: Geological 'sweet shop' awaits Mars rover: ""We're not just scratching and sniffing and taking pictures - we're boring into rock, getting that powder and analysing it in these laboratories," deputy project scientist, Ashwin Vasavada, told the BBC.

"These are really university laboratories that would normally fill up a room but which have been shrunk down - miniaturised - and made safe for the space environment, and then flown on this rover to Mars."

The intention on Monday is to put MSL-Curiosity down on the flat plain of the crater bottom.

The vehicle will then drive up to the base of Mount Sharp."

MooPig's Tech Coroner :: "Fracking in the Brazos Valley?"

Today's Question from Left Field: Are They Fracking in the Brazos Valley, Texas?
Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Aug 4, 2012 | Bryan TX

Insurance Company Won't Cover Fracking Process | Seneca Daily News: "Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. has become the first major insurance company to say it won’t cover damage related to a gas drilling process that blasts chemical-laden water deep into the ground.

The Columbus, Ohio-based company’s personal and commercial policies “were not designed to cover” risk from the drilling process, called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, Nationwide spokeswoman Nancy Smeltzer said Thursday.

The process injects chemically treated water into wells to fracture shale thousands of feet underground and release trapped gas or oil. There are rich shale deposits in parts of Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia and elsewhere."

Oil business balks at a term it created: ‘fracking’
The same energy industry which created the term “fracking” is now criticizing its use by others.
Energy giants feel the word has a negative sound to it and is being used by environmentalists and others to make them look worse. They now prefer the term from which fracking was derived: “hydraulic fracturing.”

Groat, a former Director of the U.S. Geological Survey and professor at the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin, also sits on the board of Plains Exploration and Production Company, a Houston-based company that conducts drilling and fracking in Texas and other parts of the country. According to the new report (and a review of the company’s financial reports by Bloomberg) Groat received more than $400,000 from the drilling company last year alone, more than double his salary at the University. And one of the shales examined in Groat’s fracking study is currently being drilled by the company, the report says.
Since 2007, Groat has received over $1.5 million in cash and stock awards from the company, and he currently holds over $1.6 million in company stock, according to the PAI report.

Tell the people around wells near Dallas or people whose home is over the Eagle Ford shale. Fracking cannot be separated from the deep well disposal of used fracking fluids containing unknown dangerous compounds. The deep well disposal of these compounds have absolutely been shown to cause earthquakes.

So dispense with the double-speak. Fracking causes earthquakes.

Whether these earthquakes cause damage or injury is luck. Nevertheless, corporations that create waste liquids that are disposed of by deep well injection should be financially responsible for the damage the induced earthquakes cause, and damage to the ground water that results from their activities..
___________________________
Congress and the Department of Energy requested the 240-page report.
___________________________
Natural gas and oil companies are expected to begin revealing which chemicals they employ in the drilling process hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking, in compliance with a new rule of the Texas Railroad Commission.
The companies also must reveal the amounts of water they use in the drilling process, which is widespread in such areas as South Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale play and North Dakota’s Bakken oil field.

The companies still can keep a lid on any “trade secret” formulas for fracking fluids.
Some environmentalists believe fracking compromises an area’s groundwater supply by polluting it with chemicals. Such chemicals are mixed with sand in millions of gallons of water injected into shale formations at high pressure to release trapped oil or gas.

Who is Robert Holmes?

News headlines: Batman Massacre - WHY?:
"Robert Holmes, the shooting suspect's father, not only uncovered the true intent of this massive fraud, but has also traced the "hidden" trillions of dollars to the exact bank accounts of the elite classes who have stolen it. In other words, Robert Holmes could NAME NAMES! Those names WOULD AWAKEN THE WORLD to the depth of government and corporate corruption which could include members of Congress, Wall Street, Federal Reserve and EU executives and could even include US Presidential candidates and the British Royal family.
What kind of a "shut up" deal has been worked out with Robert Holmes to save his son from the death penalty?"

The banks of London set the 'borrowing rates' low betwixt each other, so that they can loan money at a 'high rate' and make lots of money! Easy to understand, eh?

At article: " ... the banks did not fix the Libor rate with their customers in mind. Instead, the fixed Libor rate enabled them to improve their balance sheets, as well as help to perpetuate the regime of low interest rates. The last thing the banks want is a rise in interest rates that would drive down the values of their holdings and reveal large losses masked by rigged interest rates. (Jacque Fresco. July 17, 2012. HERE)... "
We are now pretty obviously facing the possibility of a world that the supranational corporations, and the governments and educational systems that serve them, will control entirely for their own enrichment—and, incidentally and inescapably, for the impoverishment of all the rest of us. - Wendell Berry
One is left with bereft feelings about the obvious sadism of the son James Holmes and what he did in shooting innocent people. How could a banking regulator be at the well head of this story, though?
" ... Most important to note about James Holmes, however, this report says, is that his father, Robert Holmes, was said to have been scheduled to testify within the next few weeks before a US Senate panel on the largest bank fraud scandal in world history that is currently unfolding and threatens to destabilize and destroy the Western banking system. MooPig's Famous Last Words Department :: Michael Phelps

We Repeat:: "20 Medals, 16 Gold."
Retrieved by Pat Darnell  |  Aug 3, 2012  |  Bryan TX

***UPDATED February 3rd, 2009 *** Michael Phelps has so far emerged unscathed from the controversy created by the photo showing him smoking from a bong, with his sponsors still standing behind him. However, he still could face criminal charges if it's determined that he was smoking marijuana, which shouldn't be too difficult considering there's a photo and Phelps has already confessed:

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says he will charge Michael Phelps with a crime if he determines the Olympics hero smoked marijuana in Richland County...

...Possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a $570 fine, plus court costs. (Read story HERE)

10 Theories About What Mitt Romney's Really Hiding in Those Tax Returns | Alternet

Retrieved by Pat Darnell | Aug 3, 2012 | Bryan TX

[Graphic LINK]

While James Wolcott thinks that it's “hardly a secret anymore” that “our tax code — and, indeed, our entire economic system — has been gamed to benefit the folks in Romney's economic stratum,” most people probably don't have a firm grasp on precisely how the vaunted “job creators” avoid paying their fair share, and the release of Romney's returns would offer a teachable moment.

As real estate billionaire Leona Helmsley once said, “Only the little people pay taxes.” That's not the message Mitt Romney wants to convey during a campaign that has a lot to do with tax cuts for the wealthiest.
10 Theories About What Mitt Romney's Really Hiding in Those Tax Returns | Alternet: " Reason  #10. There's Nothing – It's Just His Sense of Entitlement

EXCERPT  |  " ... Esquire's James Wolcott doesn't think there's any thing there . Sure, Romney's tax returns would provide an object lesson in how the ultra-rich avoid paying their fair share of taxes, but everyone already knows that those at the top of the pile game the system. For Wolcott, the issue comes down to Romney refusing to bow to the little people on principle. (Holland, Joshua. August 1, 2012. HERE)

It is helpful always to remind yourself that, in the mind of Willard Romney, there are only two kinds of people — himself and his family, and the Help. Throughout his career, and especially throughout his brief political career, Romney has treated the Help with a kind of lordly disdain. ..."

'via Blog this'
" ... The Help has no right to go pawing through the family books, giggling at the obvious loopholes and tax dodges, running amok through all the tax shelters, and probably getting their chocolate-y fingerprints all over the pages of the Romney family ledger. And, certainly, those members of the Help in the employ of the president of the United States, who is also part of the Help, have no right to use the nearly comically ostentatious wealth of the Romney as some sort of scrimey political weapon. He does not have to answer to the Help. I mean, jeepers, he's running for office.

This isn't stubbornness. That's often an acquired trait. What this is, fundamentally, is contempt. Contempt for the process, and contempt for the people who make their living in that process, and contempt for the people whose lives depend on that process. There are rules for the Help with which Willard Romney never has had to abide, and he has no intention of starting now. My dear young fellow, this simply is not done. ..."

Michael Phelps is back on top. In winning the 200m IM in London over fellow American Ryan Lochte Thursday, Phelps captured his 20th Olympic medal and became the first male swimmer to ever win the same event in three consecutive Games

He [Michael Phelps] knew then that if he wanted to be serious about swimming, serious about this grueling and demanding event in particular, he had to get his backside into the cold pool early in the morning and re-dedicate himself to being the champion he was and could yet be again.
"... He [Phelps] went out hard and fast from the get-go, flirted with world-record pace and won in 1:54.27. It was his 20th career Olympic medal; 16 are gold. Say that out loud and let the thought linger: 20 medals, 16 gold. ... "
Sidebar
The OTHER American Swimmer, Ryan Lochte's, meet is over. He won five medals. That is, and let's be plain, big. Moreover, Lochte now has 11 for his career. Among all male American Olympians, only Phelps has more.

In London, Lochte, who turns 28 on Friday, won individual gold in the 400 IM and relay gold, a brilliant swim, in the 4x200 free.

Ancient Aliens :: Sun not up yet :: Sun Worshipers

It's not even Five AM yet ...
Snagged by Pat Darnell  |  Aug 2, 2012  | Bryan TX

An Egyptian hymn from the era of the pharaoh Akhenaten (d. c. 1336 BCE) expresses the intense ancient
reverence for the sun:

You appear beautiful,
You living sun, lord of Endless Time,
are sparkling, beautiful and strong,
Love of you is great and powerful.
Your rays touch every face…
Your radiant skin animates hearts.

You have filled the Two Lands [of the horizons] with love of yourself.

Pharaoh Akhenaten and wife Nefertiri worshipping the sun c. 14th century BCE

3. Likewise, they were also very aware of the stars.
Naturally, the ancient practice of ―astrotheology‖ incorporated reverence for not only the sun but also the moon, planets, stars and constellations. In Prehistoric Lunar Astronomy, Indian scholar Dr. S.B. Roy remarks:

To the ancients...heaven was the land of gods and mystery. The sky...was itself living. The stars were the abode of the gods. The shining stars were indeed themselves luminous gods.

Astronomy was the knowledge not of heavenly bodies, but of heavenly beings: It was the heavenly, celestial cosmic or divine knowledge—knowledge of devas—the bright luminous gods.

Ancient stellar symbols and star maps have been found dating to many thousands of years ago, including in cave paintings and carvings. As the BBC reports in ―Ice Age star map discovered‖: A prehistoric map of the night sky has been discovered on the walls of the famous painted caves at Lascaux in central France.

The map, which is thought to date back 16,500 years, shows three bright stars known today as the summer Triangle...

According to German researcher Dr. Michael Rappenglueck, of the University of Munich, the maps show that our ancestors were more sophisticated than many believe.

In ―‗Oldest Star Chart‘ Found,‖ astronomer Dr. David Whitehouse states:
The oldest image of a star pattern, that of the famous constellation of Orion, has been recognised on an ivory tablet some 32,500 years old.
